A crazy bet, but which came true ! The quality of the paper and thus of the photos is very bad, it’s a pity ... Hard to find, try on second-hand book’s French websites Very rare, it negotiates between 250 and 350 euros according to condition L’album du pur-sang de l’automobile by Capitaine Loiseau, drawings by O. Fabrès. Editeur R. Bigot - Paris - 1932 Text in French Captain Loiseau got promotion and gives evidence in this book of a caustic, typical humor of the 30’s ! It is about 30 boards printed in colours, according to hilarious drawings of Fabrès, texts of Loiseau, which describe Ettore Bugatti's history, his manias and his eccentricities, but also his co-workers, friends and customers, as well as motoring environment of this time. Jean Bugatti is entitled to a complete page, and it is not sad ! (See Jean Bugatti page) Some illustrations of the site come from this book. Printed to 620 numbered copies only, of which 120 on Japan Parcheminé paper numbered from 1 to 120, it is totally untraceable today ! A pity as it is a true dream for every amateur of Bugatti ... Estimated price : at least 2500 euros for the edition on Japan paper (120 copies), at least 1500 euros for the other copies, if you are lucky to find one ! Ettore Bugatti by W. F. Bradley Motor Racing Publications Ltd - London - march 1948 (2° édition 1959) Text in English "THE" reference document, written by an English journalist who knew personally Ettore and who was fascinated by his personality. Even if numerous errors or estimates enamel this book, it is indispensable to every amateur passionated by La Marque. Reprintings or successive republications caused some changes in the jacket of the book, with various subtitles : - Ettore Bugatti, a biography - Ettore Bugatti, a biography of Ettore Bugatti - Ettore Bugatti, portrait of a man of genius These jackets are illustrated opposite. In spite of these small variations, text and the some illustrations of the book are strictly identical. Useless thus to buy the complete collection ! Today very looked after, you can find it frequently on eBay or on sites of second-hand books. She rectifies some errors raised in the works appeared since her father’s death and tells his life with a very human point of view although without indulgence. Several engine plans, a lot of photos and drawings of the era, detailed history of Bugatti victories in Grand Prix, and especially the detailed list of every cars produced with chassis and engine numbers, delivery date and name of the first owner, name of the owner (if known) at the time of the appearance of the book. Australasian Bugatti register by Robert King Edition of Australian Bugatti Register - Australia - 1974 Text in English Completed register of Australian Bugatti Club, with the add of New Zealand’s Bugattis. I am searching for this book ... Bugatti, Les Pur-Sang de Molsheim by Pierre Dumont EPA - Paris - may 1975 (2° edition 1983 - 3° picture opposite) Text in French Pierre Dumont, especially known for his drawings and his gouaches, signs there an interesting and personal book, a real research without indulgence nor concession about the personality of Ettore Bugatti. He also redraws the complete history of La Marque, then reviews all the production with rather sharp historic remarks. He ends with very nice pictures of his friends' Bugattis, photos taken during the 1974 international Bugatti meeting in Lyon (France). A Friends' book, just like his author, with Pierre Autef's beautiful photos. All Bugatti amateurs must have this book ! Numerous photos of the era, which some are new or rather unknown, still add to the interest of this book deserving appearing in your library ! Current price : from 50 to 80 euros according to condition Bugatti double-arbres by Robert Jarraud Edition de l’automobiliste - Paris - France - 1977 Text in French Outstanding draftsman, Robert Jarraud redraws the history of Bugatti's double-overhead camshafts engines with a concern of detail and historic reality which honors himself. Sculptor and mechanic in the soul, its numerous line drawings are really beautiful and of a precision without defect. Numerous and rare photos of the era still increase the charm of this unavoidable book. The last chapter redraws the palmares of DOHC Bugattis in races from 1931 till 1939 and in 1945. You have to possess this book absolutely ! Really hard to find, try on sites of second-hand books. The illustrations have nothing original. Not really indispensable if you try to deepen the subject. Can be found sometimes on eBay. As I don’t read German, I can only say that numerous and often unknown photos could justify the purchase of this book. All the artistic work of Carlo, Rembrandt, Ettore and Jean is clearly explained and detailed in 500 pages by description of exhibited objects. This book makes me regret having missed this exhibition, I was only 19 years old in 1983 and was not yet a Bugatti fan ... Texts are from H. G. Conway, H. H. von Fersten, H. Jedding, R. The historic references were verified and corrected if need according to the last discoveries, so realizing a sort of compilation of all the aforementioned books ! The very numerous illustrations, almost all of the era, are sublime and many are new. This book covers all the aspects of the Bugatti history : Bugatti family, factory of Molsheim, Bugatti patents, Bugatti-de Monge plane, Bugatti shipyard, railcars, and naturally all produced Bugatti. At the end of work, a register gives the detail of the production by chassis numbers of all Types the factory's archives of which were able to be got back (T13, T18, T13 competition, T30, T32, T35, T35A, T35TC, T35C, T37, T37C, T43, T46, T50, T51, T55, T47, T53, T54, T57, T57S, T57C, T59). A book of exceptional quality, presented luxuriously in a slipcase covered with aluminium "bouchonné" in the Bugatti maner ! Limited edition to approximately 4000 numbered copies in French and English editions, approximately 3000 numbered copies in the other editions. Every book is numbered on the slipcase, number is struck on the reproduction of a Bugatti chassis plate ! If you had to buy only one Bugatti book, it will be this one ... Out of print to the publishers, this very sough-after book is excessively difficult to find. Some copies are for sale sometimes on eBay. The incredible life of Elisabeth Junek and his carreer as amateur Bugatti pilot told by herself. Unfortunately I don’t read German but some friends told me that this history is very accurate and sensitive. Numerous original and unedited pictures coming from Junek’s archives. I am searching for this book and for a translation in French or English. Very hard to find, no idea of a current price ! Brescia Bugatti, compilation of technical information by Peter D. McGann Edited by Peter D. This great pilot began on Bugatti Type 35 and made a large part of his career for La Marque before passing with Alfa Romeo. Photos are quite new and of exceptional quality. Texts are precise, legends give dates and chassis numbers of the numerous Phi-Phi's Bugatti. This book is moving by this admiring testimony of a grandson for his grandfather, and fascinating by the exceptional iconography. Very large size book (30.5 x 43 cm), 128 pages. Printed to only 1000 numbered copies, it is today really untraceable ! And the book accompaniated by the off-print booklet with translated text in English is even more rarest ...
